Where to Stay in Naxos With Family: 9 Child-Friendly Resorts

Naxos regularly tops the polls for the best Greek islands for families. It has all the facilities that your family might need, including its own airport for easy arrivals. And while it has all the activities, tavernas, and bars that you’d expect of an Aegean hotspot, it’s also far more relaxed than some other, nightlife-fuelled islands.

It also has some of the most child-friendly beaches. Naxos is renowned for its clear, shallow waters and sandy seabeds perfect for younger children. With over 30 beaches to choose from, you’ll also find some more rugged stretches perfect for older children who like to explore, windsurfers, and nature lovers. Throw in the balmy Greek weather, legendary Greek hospitality, and delicious Greek food and you’re on to a family-friendly winner.

But, with over 1,000 hotels and resorts to choose from, deciding where to stay in Naxos with your family is a touch easier said than done. That’s why we’ve done our best to whittle them down for you into our list of the 9 best child-friendly resorts on the island. Enjoy!

Orkos Beach Hotel

What we love about the Orkos Beach Hotel is that it takes care of the adults and the little ones. Yep, there’s an on-site playground where the kids can swing and run around to their heart’s content. But there’s also a chic spa facility where mom and dad can enjoy salt-wrap facial treatments and sessions in the steam room.

The rooms channel a touch of the boho-Greek character. They’re Cyclades through and through, with whitewashed walls and adobe exteriors, all knitted together by big, sunny patios. The pool sits in a large and grassy garden and is big enough to cater to all guests. Everywhere has air conditioning, and there’s good WiFi throughout (a must for the TikTokers of today, eh?).

And there’s another draw for families. The hotel is just steps behind Mikri Vigla Bay. That’s one of the island’s hotspots for kitesurfing. When the strong summer northerlies set in, you can head there for lessons in how to whiz over the waves. There are surf schools right by the sand that offer packages for all levels.

Address: Main Street, Mikri Vigla 843 00, Greece

Best for: Windsurfers!

Summerland Holiday’s Resort

A beach in Naxos

The Summerland Holiday’s Resort is a more classic family escape. It’s midrange on the price scale, so you should have a little stack of euros left for the windsurfing lessons and taverna meals. But it’s also very comfy and highly rated. The apartment rooms can fit up to five people at once. They’re tastefully decorated with exposed-brick walls and desk spaces, and are just about perfect if you’re traveling with the whole crew.

Summerland boasts its own on-site pool. It’s a big one, with plenty of sunbed seating areas lining its sides, a couple of shaded cabanas, and a walk-up bar on hand. You might not want to spend too long there though. Gorgeous Kastraki Beach is just a few steps away, offering the fabled white-sands of western Naxos and lots of snorkeling spots to boot. This is also a great location to launch explorations of the Cedar Forest of Alyko, a wooded clutch of coastline that has spectacular coves a short drive to the south of the hotel.

Address: Kastraki Beach, 843 00, Greece

Best for: Families on a midrange budget.
